Gone But Forgotten
“I want to evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing for something forgotten and precious. I want people to see things that they see every day in a different way.” - Melanie Parent

Melanie Parent, a native to Northwest Louisiana, has used photography as a way to overcome the fear and anxiety she had felt for years when leaving her home. Gifted with a camera by her husband, this burgeoning interest in photography brought her out of the confines of her home and out and about, revisiting and exploring cherished places from her youth. This process has taken this self-proclaimed “extremely reclusive and shy” artist into new territory, both figuratively and literally. In her travels, she talks to people she encounters, gathering histories and tales of land she explores. The impetus for creating this work continues to be inspired by her love of this area, and the satisfaction using glass and pixels to capture these stories brings to her.
